In this article we consider the performance of the 3.84 Mcps time-division duplex (TDD) mode of UTRA (Universal Terrestrial Radio Access) network. We emphasize two of the radio resource management algorithms, handover and uplink power control, whose role in the overall system performance is studied extensively. Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs) have received much attention due to the possibility to be used in healthcare applications. For these applications, energy saving is a critical issue, as in many cases, batteries cannot be easily replaced. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the effect of receive diversity on multimedia broadcast multicast service (MBMS) performance in wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) networks. In addition to time diversity provided by long interleaving and receive diversity provided by multiple receive antennas, 3GPP release 6 specifications for MBMS introduce two macro diversity schemes: soft and selective combining.
